Camp Rules – Cochiti
1.
Absolutely no student use or possession of cell phones
or other electronic devices is allowed on the trip. Regular contact with
family and friends will be made through the trip blog with a chaperone’s device. This is an unplugged experience.
2.
All
toiletries must be carefully sealed in zip lock bags and carefully zipped away
in a bag while in the tent or vestibule of the tent. Do not spray bug spray, sunscreen, and deodorant or body moisturizer
inside of the tent. This compromises the rain resistance of the tent
material. You may apply lotions inside of the tent by hand rather than by
spray.
3.
Wash hands with soap before
you eat and after you go to the toilet. Keep unclean hands away from your
mouth, eyes and nose.
4.
All students
are responsible for cleaning their own area, dishes, and utensils after eating.
An assigned cleanup crew is responsible for cleaning the cooking area, cooking
plans and equipment.
5.
Use
appropriate voice levels at all times at the campground. We will not be the
only park visitors.
6.
Bathroom
cleanup and general litter control is the responsibility of each student. Trash
bags and gloves are available to help students keep camp clean.
7.
The students
assigned to each tent are the only students permitted in that tent at any time.
8.
Thoughtful
conduct that avoids inappropriate actions such as late-night collusion, hazing
of any sort or any action that puts you or others in danger is essential.
9.
Students are
not allowed to use the upper bathroom without permission at any time and never
after 10:00 p.m. The lower toilets are available for night use.
10. Students are to maintain line-of-sight with a
chaperone at all times. No student is allowed to leave the immediate campsite
without being accompanied by a chaperone for safety reasons.
11. Dress Clarifications:
·
No shorts above
the knees such as girls’ athletic/running shorts or sleeveless tops may be worn
at any time. Yoga pants are not allowed as they catch burrs and dust and are
easily penetrated by biting bugs. Scant dress of any kind is in conflict with
the Cochiti Pueblo, the environment and purpose of the trip.
·
Swimsuits may be
brought for swimming in case we swim. Girls’ swimsuits must be worn with
running/ athletic shorts. If the suit is two-piece, a t-shirt must be worn over
the suit.
·
Sandals or
open-toed shoes may be worn only for swimming and inside showers and no other
place including walking to the showers. A PFD is required for swimming.
